Hi! I’m Sally from SeaTumble Jewellery. I collect naturally sea tumbled sea glass gems from near my home on the wild north Devon coast (and occasionally further afield), drill tiny holes in them and combine them with precious metals and silk cord to create delicate, minimal pieces for women who love the sea. My work includes pieces inspired by my deepening Christian faith, bringing together my love of nature with its creator.

Each piece is truly unique, though some designs are repeated, depending on the glass gems I can find! Some examples are below.

My pieces come beautifully packaged with a sea themed card designed by me, or a bible verse card with my Christian jewellery.

As all my pieces are one of a kind, and depend on the glass I find at the beach (which is never the same twice, part of the reason I love the sea so much), I recommend you browse through my site to see what treasures you can find, as it changes frequently, and the pieces shown here may not be still be available. You will always find pieces in 14k gold filled (much more durable than gold plated, gold filled should, with care, last many years) and sterling silver. I use wire wrapping to attach clasps (often handmade) to the chains, and often attach the sea glass also using wire wraps, which gives an artisan, natural quality to the jewellery.

The bracelets and pendants are delicate, airy and feminine in design, whilst the earrings might offer more of a statement (though they’re never heavy), such as the double drops shown here. However a feature of all my pieces is their free movement, with gems swinging from drops, or sliding along fine chains as you move. Some pieces feature charms (to add charm!) and hand stamped discs in silver and copper.

WHAT IS SEA GLASS?

Glass objects of all kinds - bottles that once held perfume (or poison), precious or everyday vessels, electrical insulators and more, are discarded or find their way into the ocean. Broken and lost, these fragments are transformed by the power of the sea over decades into beautifully tactile shapes, each one unique. SeaTumble jewellery is made by that sea. Each piece represents years of the sea’s work in tumbling the glass.

inspiration

I have loves the sea for as long as I can remember, and have never lived more than a few miles from its shores. I need the sea to breathe. I go there to be slow down, to re-energise, to calm my mind and to allow the creative part of me to, well, create!

Since becoming a Christian, and being baptised, I have been drawn to reflecting my growing faith in my sea glass jewellery. More recently I have started to practise Christian meditation in the contemplative tradition, and find such a parallel between the silence and peace this offers with the peace of the ocean and coast, even in its most stormy seasons.
